Freaking monorail. I hold up this argument for my good buddy Jeff - former resident of Ballard. The monorail was a dumb idea then and it is getting to be an ever bigger dumb idea. i am lucky, being a member of the eastside i dont pay for it but as a supporter of public transport I call it a complete farse. They sold it to voters as everything light rail is not. they also pegged problems light rail was having with funding increases and route selection as ineptness on sound transit's part. well we are learning that the monorail people are no better. we are 30% under on revenue, down to one track instead of two and stations with elevators only, no escalators. what crap. check out the grassroots effort to get rid of it here.

i mean - how can folks of seattle really say light rail is not necessary??? On the eastside i think we have an opportunity to seize on an effort seattle couldnt. build in some mass transit before acquiring rights of way becomes a huge problem [like in the ranier valley]. there is a a guy in my neighborhood that was recently elected to to the redmond city counsil and he wants to use an old, exising rail right of way to run a line from woodenville thru redmond to issaquah - you go homes! education hill pride!!!!

Remember - a computer is not a fridge. it needs maintenance. new patches for windows can be found here - update your systems.

I saw a little bit of the Meet the Press interview last Sunday and it is funny to me that people are just now figuring out George ain't that great at communicating with people. this is my favorite line tho: "It's not his best format,'' Schnur said. "There's no question he's much more comfortable in front of a large, supportive audience

It [of course] has been awhile since the last post but we have had to deal with MyDoom and crazy house renovations in the last week so time has been slim and when i have it - mostly spend either sleeping or playing on the box.

So we tore out the wall between the kitchen, living room and dining room so we have one large great room. It is pretty sweet - very good for the socialization factor when hosting events. We also built a small pony wall at the entry - there used to be a railing there but for the last ten years or so there was nothing. Now the front door is not really visible from the rest of the room and that is cool.

more to come - this morning we are getting ready to install the wainscoating [sp?] on the new wall on the entry side.

one more thing - juan williams from NPR is on the panel of the Fox News Channel news show each sunday - talk about hanging in the lion's den - you go juan. anyway he straight smoked brit hume in a discussion on WMD.

First the folks in charge said it was only about WMD - now he is on Meet the Press saying it was about much much more. NFW on that.
